CD Review: AFGM - The River
“The River "is a sophisticated, polished work of art”
The album is glass mastered and the CD artwork is finished to an exceptional standard. Having met the band and followed the albums progress from the initial ideas stage to final mastering, I am aware of how much AFGM have put into this project, so was all of the effort worthwhile?
Bristol Rocks believes that AFGM is one of the very best original bands in the city; we have seen them perform live and heard their recorded work (Previous CD Review). The River is progression in the bands development and is a sophisticated, polished work of art where every track is a production of the highest quality. To attempt to describe the songs will not do them justice, the only way that you will understand what AFGM have achieved is to listen. This music contains a part of each contributor’s soul and character and as I listen to it I think of Mike Dawe, so part of him must live on and he would be extremely proud of his achievement as should the rest of the band.
BRISTOL ROCKS - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
‘The River’ review on iTunes 11 July 2009 ★★★★★
“This is a wonderful album from AFGM showing their versatility and musicianship on tracks as varied as ‘The River’ with a passing nod to Pink Floyd, to ‘Picture’ with a hint of country rock. A joy.”
