Tim Martin (bass/synths) has played piano, French horn and double bass. He got his first electric bass at 14 (with flat-wound strings, £20 from Woolworths). Later influences included John Enwistle, Chris Squire and Neil Murray. Tim played in many bands including Sharp Practice, Flash Harry, and a short stint (with Steve Byrne) in Boulevard. He also once stood in with Van Morrison’s band! He plays an Ibanez SR5005e Prestige 5-string, Ibanez RB960 Custom, a Fender Pro P Bass and amplified using a Mark Bass Mo-Mark plus Bergantino cabs. For recording/writing Tim uses a Roland Juno-G workstation, which John uses live.

Chris Melhuish (lead guitar, vocals) is the band's songwriter.  He has been playing since he was 12.  He was a songwriter with Carlin Music and has clocked up thousands of studio hours.  He played and co-wrote with touring bands National Grid and Yours.  Clapton, Santana and The Edge are major influences, but Townshend and Richards are just beneath the surface. Justin Hayward, of the Moody Blues, produced some of his early work. Chris's stage guitars include a PRS Custom 24, Rickenbacker 360, Gibson Les Paul Standard, ’62 reissue Strat and a Simon and Patrick acoustic. He uses a Bogner Shiva head and Bogner cabs.

John Telfer  (lead vocal, keyboards). Thanks to a big brother his early influences were Fats Domino, and T. Bone Walker and later on Leon Russell, Aretha Franklin and the incomparable David Ruffin. John was leader of the legendary York soul band Expensive. He has supported many great artists including Bob Marley and the Wailers, has sung with Madeleine Bell and has worked with Van Morrison. On stage John uses a Roland XP-60 keyboard, and a Korg SP100 piano with Peavey amplification. You may recognise John from his other existence as an actor - John has featured on stage and TV. He's been in Bergerac, Casualty, Without Motive to name just a few.

Steve Byrne  (drums) Steve has been playing drums for more years than he cares to remember, during which he has played many styles of music, including Blues, Rock, Progressive, AOR, Jazz, Metal, Grunge, Indie and Funk. He has played with numerous bands including Boulevard, Multistory (with whom he toured with Magnum) and No Quarter. He also studied piano for 8 years and passed many exams with Trinity College of Music and The Royal School of Music. Steve brings with him an extremely large (and loud) Pearl double bass drum kit, which comes complete with its own scaffolding. He does have a smaller Sonor kit for rehearsals and “pub” gigs but his “weapon of choice” is the mighty Pearl.

Bryan Berry (guitar, backing vocal) has a wide interest in rock guitar music with influences that include Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Pink Floyd, U2, Rush, Queen and Wishbone Ash. He has been playing guitar on and off since the age of 13.  Bryan’s collection of guitars include a Fender Stratocaster Plus and Fender Telecaster.  He also has three Gibsons; a Les Paul Classic, ES335 and Flying V.  On stage Bryan favours the single coil sound of his Strat which is fitted with a Piezo bridge to give a blend of acoustic and electric guitar sounds. This is amplified through a Cornford Mk50II Head & Cornford Cab and a Fender Acoustasonic Pro for the piezo pick-up.

Jo Melhuish  (backing vocals) Jo Melhuish started her musical career at 14, playing bass with bands Alcoholic Volume, Strangers Within and Antenna. One of her personal highlights of this period being playing at the Fleece & Firkin in Bristol at the age of 15. Prior to this Jo had been playing piano since the age of 11 and had swapped her flute for a bass guitar by the age of 12 (with a little help from her Mum and Dad!).   Jo joined AFGM in the summer of 2006 and has provided backing vocals on all live shows since then and on the band's fourth studio album 'The River'.

Dave (Ice-T) Harding is the unseen (but no less important) 8th member of the band, providing all manner of technical support.

Sophie Claridge (backing vocals) is the newest member of the band and has a lifelong love of music. She has played many gigs on the London circuit and beyond and also has stage and theatre experience. Her influences range from Stevie Nicks via the Supremes to Emmylou Harris (with plenty of rock and other bands in between). Sophie played the violin for many years and is currently mastering the banjo.
